John James Crudele, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 10 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Newburgh, N.Y., he was a retired general contractor, longshoreman on the docks of New Jersey, veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, member of the Kona Lions Club and was an avid tennis player. Private services to be held in Hilo and Newburgh, N.Y., where his ashes will be interned. Survived by companion, Connie Caldwell of Kailua-Kona; son, Robert Crudele of Hilo; daughters, Paige (Brian) De Lima of Hilo, Shelly (Kevin) Connelly of New Jersey, Kathy Martin of North Carolina; sisters, Caroline (George) Sarvis of New York, Rosie Crudele of New York, Carmella Hillman of New York; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Bradley “The Mayor” Herbert Kawika Halliwell, 54, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 19 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Boise, Idaho, he was a commercial fisherman, a member of HKH (Keauhou, Honalo, Kainaliu) Association, Konawaena Soccer and a professional surfer. Friends may call at noon Sept. 27 at Living Stones Church of Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona for a celebration of life. Casual attire. Tsuneo Mikaru, 93, of Hawi died Sept. 15 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua. Born in Halaula, he was a retired painting contractor, worked at the former Kohala Sugar Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. No services. Ashes to be scattered at a later date. Survived by sister, Geraldine Nagahisa of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
